Pharmaceutical labeling for prefilled syringes
PFSs are becoming increasingly popular for drug administration. High-quality polymer PFS, such as those made from Cyclic Olefin Copolymer (COC), offer design flexibility and reduced breakage rates. However, COC has a different E&L profile and lower oxygen and gas barrier than Borosilicate Glass, raising potential drug interaction concerns. These barrier properties are significant for labeling, as adhesive labels affixed directly to the container pose a risk of adhesive migration into the polymer.
